Speed, intoxication factors in fatal southeast B.C. crash: RCMP

Three people were killed in asingle-vehicle crash in southeastern British Columbia on Tuesday, police say.

RCMP said a car left the road and crashed down an embankment in the community of Wilmer, north of Invermere.

The car's three passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police said in a statement that speed and intoxication are both believed to be contributing factors in the crash.

An RCMP Highway Patrol crash reconstruction team is assisting the Mounties and the B.C. Coroners Service as they investigate the incident.
