St. Patrick's Day parade turns Vancouver streets green

Thousands of Vancouver residents lined downtown streets to catch Vancouver CelticFest's 11th annual St. Patrick's Day parade Sunday morning.

Thousands of Vancouver residentslined downtown streets to catch VancouverCelticFest's 11th annual St. Patrick's Day parade Sunday morning.

The parade started at 11 a.m. PT at the corner of Howe and DavieStreets, wound its way north along Howe to Georgia Street ending onGranville.

Street closures around the parade route started at 8 a.m. PT and were in effect until 2 p.m. PT.

The parade featured about 2,000 performers and participants including:

  • Pipe and drum bands
  • Celtic musicians
  • Scottish and Irish dancers
  • Acrobats
  • Stilt walkers
  • Vintage cars
  • The Vancouver police motorcycle drill team and pipe band
  • Fire and police dogs
  • Mounted horse drill teams
