Stanley Park Causeway reopens after head-on crash sends woman to hospital

Vancouver's Stanley Park Causeway partially reopened Monday evening after a head-on collision during rush hour sent one woman to hospital and closed the road in both directions.

Vancouver's Stanley Park Causeway partially reopenedMonday eveningafter a head-on collision during rush hour sent one woman to hospitaland closed the road in both directions.

Vancouver Police Department spokesperson Const. Jason Doucettesaid the crash, which occurred at approximately 5 p.m. PT,involved two vehicles:a Kia Soul and a Toyota Sienna minivan.

There were no passengers in the vehicles, but the driver of the minivan was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"We're not really sure what led up to the collision or what caused it," Doucette said.

Vancouver police, in an emailed statement, said that as of 6:30 p.m. one lane northbound and one lane southbound had been opened. Doucettesaid investigators were on scene examiningthe crash.

DriveBC reported the crash occurred north of North Lagoon Drive, about halfway into the park.

The causewayleads from the city's downtown to the Lions Gate Bridge which connects Vancouver to the North Shore.
