Star Wars Night turns Vancouver Giants into Stormtroopers

The Vancouver Giants have unveiled their new uniforms for a special Star Wars-themed game on December 4.

The Western Hockey League clubwill be tapping into their alternate personas asa lean, mean, force-awakening teamof...Stormtroopers.

Media spokespersonBrendan Batchelorsaysthe players happily embraced the opportunity to wear the Star Wars jerseys.

"With the way they look, the matching white pant shield and everything.I know that they think they look really cool and they're all really excited to wear them," he said.

The jerseys were designed in conjunction with Lucasfilm Ltd. as part of a benefit game.

In anemailto CBC,ChrisArgyropoulos, a publicist for the San Francisco-based film companysays they help"ensure accuracy" with design when it comes to partnerships like these.

All the game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off with proceeds going to the Shriners of B.C. and Yukon, which provides specialist medical care to disadvantagedchildren.

Attendees of the game can also expect to see other surprise Star Wars characters roam the crowds that night, althoughthe Giants' opponentson December 4, the Kootenay Ice, will be wearing their usual jerseys.

Meanwhile, Star Wars fans in Saskatchewan can get their kickson November 28, whenthe Saskatoon Blades will be wearing a scene from the ice-planet Hothin their game against the Edmonton Oil Kings.
