Woman's body found in Surrey basement suite

Police are investigating after a woman was found dead in a Surrey basement suite on the 8400-block of 148A Street on Thursday night.

Police said the body of the woman, who is believed to be in her 40s, was found in one of two basement suites in the house.

They did not say if she lived there but did say she was "associated with the house." Neighbours have told CBC News a young woman did live at the home.

"Early indication is this homicide is not related to gang activity. It is expected that crime scene investigators will be at the residence for the next couple of days," said a statement issued by Surrey RCMP Cpl. Adam MacIntosh.
