B.C. Liberals pick up support as Conservatives falter

The latest Angus Reid shows the B.C. NDP still have a significant lead over the governing B.C. Liberals, but the Liberals have picked up support as the B.C. Conservatives continue to lose voters.

According to the poll of 802 B.C. voters conducted last week, 46 per cent would vote for the NDP if an election were held tomorrow,a drop of just one percentage point from last November.

With just under four months to go until the next provincial election, 31 per cent of those polled said they would vote for the B.C. Liberals, up two points from November. That's the highest numbers for the Liberals in more than a year.

Meanwhile support for the Conservatives fell two percentage points to 10 per cent, the lowest level of support for the party since March, 2011. The B.C. Greens also received 10 per cent support from those polled.

Pollster Mario Canseco says the results suggest Conservative support in former party strongholds like the Interior and Northern B.C. has dropped by half.

As for who would make the best premier, the survey showed the NDP's Adrian Dix maintaining a commanding lead of 29 per cent, ahead of Premier Christy Clark, who scored 19 per cent support.
