"We've not made these extraordinary efforts just to see some rioters flout the law another time with their disrespect to the courts," said Supt. Dean Robinson on Wednesday.

Since last September, the Integrated Riot Investigation Team started monitoring 42 peoplewho have either been convicted or are facing charges for participating in the June 15, 2011 riot.

Officers have dropped in on people at their homes at night to make sure they are abiding by their curfews.

"We had another individual who we attended their residence and they were not home, upon phoning them they told us that their bus had taken the wrong turn that they're on their way home," said Const. Raj Mander.

"It's frustrating for everyone because when this is all said and done, our goal is to ensure that nothing like this happens again," Mander said.

Police have not disclosed the budget for the Riot Investigation Team's surveillance activities.
