Surrey police respond to yet another shooting

Surrey has recorded its 29th and 30th shooting incident of the year, just days after police spoke of a worrying spike in drug-related, violent crime in the city.

The latest appears to be shots fired between two vehiclesalong 88th Avenue and 132nd Street in Surrey, early Sunday evening.

Surrey RCMPsaid in a release thatboth vehicles were at the intersection on a red light, when shots were fired from an SUV into a car.

"Multiple shots rang out into the victim vehicle," read the release. "The suspect vehicle was last seen travelling south on 132 from 88 and the victim vehicle was last seen travelling north on 132 from 88."

There have been no injuries reported so far from this latest shooting asSurrey RCMP serious crime investigators continue to talk to witnesses and gather evidence such as shell casings.

Police say no arrests have been made and have not yet connected the incident to other recent shootings.

Meanwhile on Saturday around 8 p.m. PT one man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after what appeared to be a targeted shooting in the 12200 block of 92 Avenue.

On Friday, Surrey RCMP held a press conference to announce a $4.5 million drug bust, one of the city's largest ever.

At the conferenceSurrey RCMPSupt.Manny Mann said the city has seen a spike in 'shots fired' incidents throughout March, and there had, at that time,been 28 such incidents so far in 2016.

He said, at the time, thatfive of theincidents were associated to a new drug-related conflict between two groups.
