TransLink cuts managers after plebiscite defeat

TransLink says Cathy McLay will be taking over from Doug Allen as acting CEO. It is also eliminating one of its executive positions in order to save salary costs.

TransLink saysCathy McLaywill be taking over from Doug Allen as actingCEO.

It isalso eliminating the positionof executive vice president of planning and stakeholder relations in an effort to save salary costsand replacing Doug Kelsey who had been president and CEO of TransLink's SkyTrain operations.

Mike Richard will assume Kelsey's old role as head of the B.C. Rapid Transit Company, which operates two of Metro Vancouver'sthree SkyTrain lines. Richard has been with the company for 30 years.

In a written statement, TransLink saysMcLay, the organization's current CFO, will take over from Allen August 10until a permanent person is in place. She alsokeeps her current role as the executive sponsor for the Compass Card system.

The organization said it has eliminated the positionof executive vice president of planning and stakeholder relations in an effort to save salary costs.
