Family of Trina Hunt offering $50K reward for information leading to arrest in homicide case

The family of a woman found dead after she was reported missing from her Port Moody, B.C., home earlier this yearis offering a reward for any information that leads to an arrest and chargeinthe investigation.

The family of Trina Hunt isoffering $50,000 to anybody who brings such information to the RCMP, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

"Four months ago, our world was turned upside when Trina was reported missing. The pain and anguish we have experienced is unbearable," saida statement read aloud on behalf offamily membersBrad, Jen, Charles and Diana Ibbott.

"We have had no answers, no arrests and no closure ...We know someone out there knows something or has heard something."

Hunt's remains were found south of the rural Silver Creek area inHope, B.C., on March 29. She had beenreportedmissing on Jan. 18.

Investigators believe her death was a homicide.

Hunt's husband called 911 and reported hermissing after he came home from work on Jan. 18, a Monday. He said he hadlast seen Hunt, 48,that morning as he left their house in theHeritage Mountain neighbourhood.

Her disappearance sparked a months-long search by family and friends, who combed the nearby woods and trails.

Investigation 'progressing,' but details slim

IHIT said Hunt had been in the Hope area the weekend of Jan. 15.

"Hope is not a very large area.That area of Silver Creek is not a very large area.So, if there is somebody with information, they know who they are andthey need to come forward," said Sgt. Frank Jang.

"If doing the right thing isn't enough for you, now you have a very lucrative incentive of $50,000."

RCMP would not confirm whether Hunthad travelled there alone or with someone, nor which vehicle she might have used. Jang said the investigation is "progressing well," but would not comment on any people of interest.

"We have to keep that information airtight," said Jang.

"We're very aware that Trina's killer is also out there ... that person could be watching and may want to know exactly what the police know and I am not going to provide any information to that person whatsoever."

The final portion offamily statementaddressed the killer.

"You need to come forward and take responsibility for what you did. You have senselessly taken Trina's life and have ruined so many others. Own up to your actions and accept the consequences ... we all know you're out there and our family and the community will continue fighting for answers."

IHIT and the Port Moody Police Department are working together on the investigation.
