Vancouver firefighters made quick work of a fire in a vacant garage, Wednesday night.

The fire began just before 11 p.m. at 4255 Highbury St.

Battalion Chief Dale Parno said crews arrived to find the garage engulfed in flames.

"Flames [were] coming out the side of the house and up the eaves and up into the roof," said Parno."About 10 feet of flames."

Parno said the fire was relatively easy to put out, because the garage was empty so there was nothing inside to burn.

The next-door neighbour, who declined to give his name, said the house had been vacant for about six months, but renovations appear to have just begun.

Parno said nobody was injured in the fire.

"The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The fire investigator is on scene," he said Wednesday night.
