Vancouver police back where dead baby found

Police have returned to investigate an area of East Vancouver where an infant's body was found in a plastic bag last year.

Police have returned toinvestigate an area of East Vancouver where an infant's body was found in a plastic bag last year.

Four homes on the 2500 block of Charles Street, where the body was found, were cordoned offby police tape as of noon Wednesday. A large number of officers were seen in the area, the curtains ofhomes were closed and police vehicles were parked outside.

Police have not yet said why theyreturned to the scene but have scheduled a news conference to update the media later Wednesdayafternoon on a "homicide investigation."

On April 2, 2009, a person who lived on thestreet found the baby boy's body wrapped in a plastic bag in a yard between two houses.

At the time, policeappealed to the mother of the infant, or anyone who might know her, to contact them. They later said they hadcontacted the mother and she was getting"the care she needs."
