Woman, 20, facing charges after alleged Vancouver attacks

Vancouver police are looking for witnesses or possible victims after a series of attacks in the area near Canada Place and Burrard Street Monday night.

Vancouver police are looking for witnesses andpossible victims after a series of attacks in the area near Canada Place and Burrard Street Monday night.

The violent attacks began shortly after 10 p.m., according to police, who are recommending criminal charges againstthe suspect, a 20-year-old woman who is new to Vancouver.

Witnesses claimed the woman was attacking pedestrians in the area, and even tried to throw a 31-year-old woman off the pier and into the water, said police.

Officers quickly found the suspect near Harbour Green Park, and she was taken into custody and brought to ahospital.

Police claimed the suspect kicked an 88-year-old woman lying on a stretcher in the head, though the patient wasn't seriously hurt.

The 20-year-old was taken to jail, but then returned to the hospital for treatment of self-inflicted injuries.

Police said in a released statement thatthe suspect has 'had extensive and violent police contact in other provinces.'
