Man charged after allegedly cutting stranger's throat during daylight attack in Vancouver

Jesse Attig has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly slitting a stranger's throat during an afternoon attack in Vancouver's Mount Pleasant neighbourhood.

A 30-year-old Vancouver man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly slashing a stranger's throat onSundayin the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood.

Jesse Attigis alleged to haveapproacheda46-year-old Vancouver manfrom behind, slashedhis throatand walked away.The attack occurred in Mount Pleasantnear Quebec Street and East 10th Avenue around 3 p.m.

"This attack appears to have been random, and itcaused serious injuries to the victim," saidSgt. Steve Addison of the Vancouver Police Department.

Several witnesses stayed with the victim anduntil police arrived. He was taken to the hospital where he received stitches for his "significant cuts" on his neck and throat, saidSgt.Addison. He has since been released as his injuries are no longer life-threatening,

Attig was apprehended near Kingsgate Mall and remains in custody.
