Victoria police seek witnesses after serious downtown stabbing

Police are seeking witnesses after a man was stabbed in downtown Victoria and left with life-threatening injuries.

Police say a 27-year-old suspect is still in custody

Police are seeking witnesses after a man was stabbed in downtown Victoria and left with life-threatening injuries.

The stabbing took place at about 12:30 a.m. PT Saturday at the corner of Douglas and View Streets, an area police described as "a very busy street corner on the weekend."

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim. He was transported to hospital and underwent emergency surgery.

Police say they located the suspect, a 27-year-old man, near where the incident took place. He is still in custody.

"The investigation is ongoing and detectives are seeking witnesses to the stabbing or the events that led up to this serious assault," said Victoria Police in a release.
