Rain and snowfall warnings issued across southern B.C.

Environment Canada has issued weather warnings across the south of British Columbia as several systems bringing rain and snow move across theregion.

Metro Vancouver and Greater Victoria could see up to 70 millimetres of rain between Sunday and Monday eveningaccording to the forecaster, with the same system also bringing heavy rain to Whistler, the Fraser Valley, Howe Sound and both east and west coasts of Vancouver Island.

As much as 100 millimetres of rain could fall on the west coast of the Island.

Heavy snow is expected in the southern Interior and Okanagan, with winter storm warnings in place for the Boundary region as well as the Kootenays.

The weather office says up to 50 centimetres of snow could fall in the region. Snowy weather is expected to continue until Monday night, and freezing rain could hit the area after that.

Drivers have been warned to expect snowy conditions on the Trans-Canada Highway, Coquihallaand Highway 3, as well as the Sea-to-Sky Highway closer to the coast.
