Kinder Morgan's expanded pipeline through B.C. and Alberta will triple its carrying capacity

It may have taken some timebut eventually B.C. PremierChristy Clarkgave the green light to Kinder Morgan's Trans Mountainpipeline.

Now, with a new NDP government taking power on Tuesday, pipeline politics could once again come to the forefront with B.C. and Alberta on opposing sides.

Premier-designate John Horganand Green Party Leader Andrew Weaver areopposed to the project.In announcing their alliance, both havesaidthey would useevery tool they canto stop it.

On the other side is Alberta Premier RachelNotleyand the federal government who saythe expansion of the pipeline is in the national interest.

The pipelinewould twin the existing 1,150-kilometre pipeline that runs from theEdmonton area to Burnaby, B.C., nearly tripling its capacity to 890,000 barrels a day.
