White Rock water tests come back clean

White Rock, B.C., residents may soon be able to stop boiling their drinking water, after three tests at the contaminated reservoir came back clear of E. coli contamination.

White Rock, B.C., residents may soon be able to stop boiling their drinking water, after three tests at the contaminated reservoir came back clear of E. coli contamination.

More than 20,000 residents of the suburb south of Vancouver have been under a boil water advisory since Aug. 20 after bacteria was found in the water supply.

The Fraser Health Authority requires only three clean test results before lifting an advisory, but David Rector, the general manager of B.C. operations for Epcor, said more testing is being done on Tuesday as a precaution and he hopes to make an announcement tomorrow.

Rector said he believes the E. coli could have been caused by birds, and the company is making some changes to the water tower to ensure this doesn't happen again.

"We're actually going to rip off the entire roof and redo every single hatch, every single vent that's on the top of that roof," he said.
