Fire in Penticton suburb damages homes, triggers short term evacuation

The City of Penticton reports the fire is "being managed effectively" and damage was contained to the roofs of two homes.

The City of Pentictonsays a suburban fire is being managed effectively after residents were ordered from their homes Thursday morning.

The city reported on Facebook that the fire damaged the roofs of two homes on WestwoodDrive in the West Bench neighbourhood. The fire burnedbrush and three fallen trees.

After the fire broke out at around9 a.m. PT RCMP officers went door-to-doortelling people to get out of their homes.

Both city and wildfire firefighters arrivedon the scene. Residents were allowed back into the area around noon.

It's unclear what started the fire.
