Calgary first responders have destroyed a tunnel and encampment south of the Stampede grounds citing health and safety risks, police said Thursday.

The firing of a Calgary tenured professor who found herself in the headlines in 2022 for her comments tied to residential schools and the Black Lives Matter movement was disproportionate, even if her conduct did warrant discipline, an arbitrator has ruled.

The newly introduced municipal census would run every two years, beginning in 2027, if approved by council later this month.

Last year, at the age of 62, Lynette Brodoway won the Ladies Barrel Racing Championship at the Canadian Finals Rodeo, competing largely against cowgirls half her age. This week, shes heading to the same rodeo the biggest on the Canadian stage as the season leader, after entering the pro rodeo circuit just eight years ago.
