Teen charged after multiple Airdrie residents shot with BB gun

Update Sept. 20, 2020: RCMP say one person has been charged in a BB gun shooting in Airdrie. Adam James Ferrier, 19, faces 20 charges including assault with a weapon and trespassing at night. He's set to appear in court on Oct. 15.

Three others arrested were released after an investigation found they were not involved.

Six people received minor injuries, and one required medical assistance to remove a BB pellet.

Airdrie RCMParrested four peopleFriday night after several residents reported being shot by BB guns.

At about9:30 p.m., RCMP received multiple calls about a group of males in Airdrie with a gun.

Mounties responded with police dogs, and were assisted by the Calgary police HAWCS helicopter, according to a release.

RCMP initially reported the shootings as an "active shooter" incident, having received reports that multiple people had been injured in at least six different locations.

Occupants of businesses inAirdrie's downtown core were ordered to shelter in place, while residents in downtown and midtown communities were asked to stay inside.

By 11:45 p.m., the RCMPhad arrested four malesand lifted the shelter in place order.

Three of those males have now been released, while charges are pending against one 19-year-old man from Airdrie, who is still in custody.

The RCMP said six people were treated for minor injuries, and that the investigation continues.
