Apologetic Alberta auto-part thief returns Volkswagen bumper with sorry note
RCMP still looking for suspect, noting vehicle owner on the hook for reattaching bumper
A seeminglyremorseful thief appears to have thought better of his or her life choices,opting to return a stolen vehicle part to its rightful owner in Airdrie, Alta., completewith an apology note.
But the Mounties aren't letting the suspect off thateasy, noting this wasn't a victimless crime.
"The owner of the vehicle is now left with the financial responsibility of repairing the vehicle and the bumper," Airdrie RCMP said in a release that asks the public for helpin solving the case.

Police say the bumper was removed from a 2015 Volkswagen GTI when it was parked outside a home in the Ravenswood neighbourhoodsometime on the evening of May 8 or in the early-morning hours of May 9.
Then, on the evening ofof May 12, the bumper was returned to the home with an anonymous apologynote attached.
"Airdrie RCMP has consulted RCMPforensic identification services," police said in a news release titled RCMP Seeking Information on Stolen (and returned) Bumper.
Anyone with information about the temporarily stolen bumper is asked tocall the Airdrie RCMP at 403-945-7200.
