Be ready for cold, rain and even snow to hit some parts of southern Alberta over the long weekend

Environment Canada is warningCalgariansto bracefor a gust of autumn weather over the Labour Day long weekend and that could include a little snow.

Though Saturday temperatures will likelyreacha balmy 30 C, a low pressure system is expected to move throughout southeastern Alberta on Saturday night.

This system will bring showers, gusty winds and colder temperatures, along with five to 15millimetres of rain by Monday evening, the agency says.

Daytime highs are expected to hover in the 10 to 15 C range andby Monday morning, low temperatures are expected to fall below the freezing mark.

Up to five centimetres of snow isforecasted for higher elevations in the Foothills, and up to 10 centimetres is possible on east-facing slopes.

Though snowfall is expected to remain in and near the mountain parks, there is a chance of seeing mixed precipitation inCalgary.

Most Albertans will wake up to frost on Monday morning, and widespread frost on Tuesday,Environment Canada predicts.
