Three salons in southern Alberta have been ordered to closefor violating pandemic health orders.

The salons are:

  • Queen's Nails in Strathmore.
  • Sajjal Threading & Waxing Studio in southwest Calgary.
  • Tanya Kim Esthetics in Crossfield.

All three were ordered by Alberta Health Servicesto close this week for offering esthetics services, from manicures to eyebrow waxes, that could contribute to the spread of COVID-19.

The third salon,Tanya Kim Esthetics, was also ordered to complete work to remedy breaches of the public health act, as a bathroom sink was being used to clean equipment, eyebrow microblading pens weren't being cleaned properlyand pillows used on client beds could not be easily cleaned.

Most personal esthetics services, other than hair salons and barbershops, are currently banned in Alberta, and are set to open in Stage 2 of the province's relaunchwhich is set for mid-June.

More than a dozenbusinesses in Calgary have been the subject of closureorders for breaking public health rules relating toCOVID-19 since the pandemic began, according tothe AHS website.
