Alpine Canadawrapped up a meeting in Calgary Thursday where ski officials have drafted new rules to help make the sport of skicross safer.

That was welcome news to Bebe Zorecic whose sonNik was killed during a World Cuprace in Switzerlandin March 2012 when he flew out of bounds and hit a fence.

"This summit is going to bring some peace and closure to my family," said Zorecic.

Alpine Canada is promising better safety testing of courses and better training of skiers at an early age to ensure they can handle the course.

"Unfortunately, this year we were reminded tragically what can happen in our sport," said Max Gartner of Alpine Canada.
