Reports had been circulating on social media that Fernandez went missing on Christmas Eve.

"We have had [a] conversation with the family," said Staff Sgt. Grant Miller.

"Again he was last seen on Christmas Eve ... and his family reported him missing to us on Boxing Day.... So we are interested in anyone that had contact with him on the 24th to come forward and provide that information to us."

Police are investigating the death as a homicide.

"Losing a loved one under tragic circumstances is never easy and it's even more difficult over the Christmas season," said Miller.

An autopsy was done Mondaymorning, but the cause of death is not being released.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
