Four baby dragons are now on display at the Calgary Zoo Komodo dragons, that is.

The four eight-month-old lizards are part of a breeding program designed to help create more genetic diversity in the species. The Calgary Zoo already has one adult Komodo dragon named Loka.

"This is the first time they've been on display and what we're seeing is that they're actually really interested in the public," said zoo curator Colleen Baird. "They're interacting. They're coming up, they're curious very curious at this stage to see what's happening."

All four of the new Komodo dragons originally came from the Colchester Zoo in the U.K.

There are only about 3,000 to 5,000 of the species left in the wild.
