Janice Price, who is set to take over in March, is currently CEO of the Luminato Festival in Toronto, a multi-arts festival she helped found in 2006.

I am honoured and proud to join The Banff Centre, truly one of the most important cultural assets in all of Canada, she said in a written release.

I look forward to building on the excellent reputation of The Banff Centre, and to shining a spotlight locally, nationally and internationally on the spectacular work that is being done there.

Price previously held senior positions at New Yorks Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, TorontosHummingbird Centre for the Performing Arts and Roy Thomson Hall and Massey Hall.

Janice Price is an experienced chief executive who brings a wealth of experience working at some of the most prestigious arts organizations in Canada and the United States, said Brenda Mackie, Banff Centre board chair.

Were looking forward to her working closely with the board and the management team as we continue to develop multidisciplinary artistic works, train innovative leaders and build creative capital in Alberta for Canada and the rest of the world.

Price said one of her priorities will be to refresh some of the infrastructure at the centre.

What are the priorities for performance spaces, for conference attendee spaces, how do we continue to make sure that Banff continues to be competitive on the world stage.
