Vehicle collision near Bassano results in two fatalities, RCMP say

Two people were killed in atwo-vehicle collision nearBassanoon Friday night, Alberta RCMP said in a newsrelease.

Traffic was reduced to one lane in each direction where the crash occurred, which isat theintersection of Highways 1 and 847, RCMP said.

Highways remained reduced to single-lane in either direction throughout the night.

Emergency crews and Bassano RCMPwere dispatched to the scene.

In the release, the RCMP requested that "motorists travel slowly and cautiously while passing emergency vehicles."

The investigation is still underway.
