Beltline stabbing a targeted attack, say Calgary police

Calgary police are trying to figure out if a stabbing in the Beltline area Tuesday was gang-related.

Calgary policeare trying to figure outifarecent stabbing in the Beltline areawas gang-related.

A35-year-old Calgary man remains inlife-threatening condition in hospital after he was stabbedaround 3 p.m. MT Tuesday.

"Until such time as we can actually determine who was involved and the motive, and determine if it was gang-relatedwe certainly believe it was a targeted attack," said CPS spokesperson Kevin Brookwell.

"So a lot of unanswered questionsthat we hope we'll get as wemove forward and the key person to speak to will be the victim, once we are able to do that."

Police say the man was attacked in a parking lot.Hewasapproached by two suspects as he was entering his vehicle in the 1300 block of 10 Ave. S.W.

He was able to drive a couple of blocks down the road to the 1000 block of 10th Ave. S.W.

A female who was in the passenger seat of the vehicle was not injured.

The first suspect is described as an Asian man, between 25 and 35 years old,five feet 10 inchestosix feet two inchestall, around 200 pounds with an athletic build. He was wearing a grey sweatshirt and black pants.

The second suspect is described as having dark skin, between 25 and 35 years old, roughly five feet seven inches tofivefeet 10 inches tall with an average build.

Policeare also lookingfora red Honda Odyssey seen in the area with black steel rims and a Stampeders logo on the back window.

Severalpolice unitsare involved in the investigationincluding the Guns and Gangs Unit.
