Black bear spotted wandering southwest Calgary streets

Provincial Fish and Wildlife officers and Calgary police were on the trail of a black bear that was spotted in several areas in the citys southwest on Wednesday.

Police and wildlife officers tried to catch and tranquilize bear seen around North Glenmore Park

A black bear was spotted wandering around southwest Calgary in and around North Glenmore Park on Wednesday. (CBC)

Provincial Fish and Wildlife officers and Calgary police were on the trail of a black bear that was spotted in several areas in the citys southwest on Wednesday.

The bear was first spotted at about 9 a.m. inNorth Glenmore Park near the Weaselhead Flats natural environment park.

It was also seen about four kilometres east at the Earl Grey Golf Club and down by the Glenmore Reservoir.

There were reports the bear was heading towards the Tsuu T'ina First Nation.

Sightings of a black bear in the areawere also reported last Thursday.

Officials said they might try to catch and tranquilize the bear.
