An inmate who escaped from the Bowden Institution, north of Calgary, last month has been captured in Edmonton.

Edmonton police arrested Shawn Thomas Evjen, 46, during a vehicle stop on Wednesday afternoon, RCMP confirmed.

Evjen, who was considered armed and dangerous, scaled the perimeter fence at the medium-security prison on the night of Sept. 14, police said.
