RCMP charge 3 men in Bowden Institution drug trafficking scheme

Three men are facing drug trafficking charges after an RCMP investigation into a ploy to smuggle drugs into the Bowden Institution.

Three men are facing drugtrafficking charges after an RCMP investigation into a ploy to smuggle drugs into the BowdenInstitution.

On Nov. 5, corrections staff found a former Bowdeninmate outside the facility'sfence.

Jesse Cole, 32, was on statutory release from the prison after being released in September. He has been charged with two counts of trafficking.

Further investigation by RCMP and the Correction Service of Canada led to two Bowden inmates being charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Alan Goosens, 24, has been charged with two counts andCory Michaelshas been charged with three.

All three offenders have been transferred to higher security facilities.They are due in Red Deer court in February.

Bowdenis a medium-security prisonabout 100 kilometres north of Calgary.
