Bragg Creek businesses look for long weekend bump

As thousands of Calgarians hit the highways for the May Long Weekend, some Bragg Creek business owners are hoping a lot of them will be showing up at their doors rain or shine.

As thousands of Calgarians hit the highways for the May long weekend, some Bragg Creek business owners are hoping a lot of them will be showing up at their doorsrain or shine.

Teresa Clarkson says business has been good at Lucid Coffee.

As tourist traffic picks up, she hopes that trend continues this weekend even with cloudy skies.

"Maybe a coffee to warm up. Maybe a sandwich. Come through the shops to browse, just for something to do," Clarkson said hopefully.

"We get tons of people out here," Reed said.

"It's nice to have the extra day as well to have more people out here."

Suzanne Jackett with the Bragg Creek and Area Chamber of Commerce says a warmer than usual spring has been good for business and they're hoping that trend continues this summer because some here are still recovering from the 2013 flood.

"We're just really trying to make people know, to help people understand and know that we're back, that we're open," Jackett said.

As for Clarkson at Lucid coffee, rain or shine, they're all in this together.

"I just hope the whole plaza in general has a really good weekend."
