Friends and family of the five victims of a fatal stabbing spree in northwest Calgary gathered at the Jubilee to honour their memories.

A concert being held Thursday evening to remember five young Calgarians stabbed to death at a party is looking to raise money for memorial scholarships.

Organizers of the fundraisersay they want to honour the memories of Zackariah Rathwell, Lawrence Hong, Kaitlin Perras, Jordan Segura and Joshua Hunter.

Two of the victims, Rathwell and Hunter, were members of the Calgary band Zachariah and the Prophets.

BandmateBarry Mason, who is also one of the concert organizers,says the money raised by the event is going into scholarships created in the names of the five victims.

"This is that day where what we're doing is getting an entire community together so that we can celebrate their lives as opposed to revel in tragedy," he said.

The High Hopes concertstarted at 6 p.m. MT atCalgarys Jubilee Auditorium.

The concert features artwork from local artists and performances byThe Fox Who Slept the Day Away, The Ashley Hundred, Windigo and Jesse and the Dandelions.
