Brentwood stabbing memorial concert tickets now on sale

A concert being held to honour the five victims killed during a university party in Brentwood in April went on sale Friday afternoon.

The show, which iscalledHigh Hopes,will be held at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium on Sept. 4.

It is being held to rememberZackariah Rathwell, Lawrence Hong, Kaitlin Perras, Jordan Seguraand Joshua Hunter.

They died after Matthew de Grood, 22, allegedly went on a stabbing rampage at the party in the early hours of April 15.

All money raised from ticket sales and a raffle will be donated to the scholarships, trust funds, and/or charities established for each of the victims, said organizers in a release.

Hunter andRathwell were both members of local bandZackariah and the Prophets. The remaining band members are expected to make a tribute.

There will also be performances by four otherlocal groupsFox Who Slept the Day Away, Jesse and the Dandelions, Windigoand The Ashley Hundred along witha raffle andartwork from local artists.

Originally the show was supposed to be held at the University of Calgary where some of the victims attended school.

Whenorganizers were turned down by the U of C Students' Union, Alberta's Culture Minister Heather Klimchuk reached out and helped them secure theJubileefor a huge event.

The Students' Union later reversed its decision to host the event, but the organizers declined in light of "overwhelming support" received and offers for other venues.

Tickets for the High Hopes cost $25.
