Elbow Drive house fire sends one to hospital, arson investigators called in

Arson investigators from both the Calgary Police Service and fire department are working to determine what caused yesterday's house fire in the southwest community of Elboya.

Arson investigators are at a home in the city's southwesttrying to determine what caused the fire yesterday that gutted the house.

Around 4p.m. MT on Saturday, crews were called to the home in the4200 block of Elbow Drive S.W.

One man who was going door-to-door to alert his neighbourswas taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to neighbouring homes.

Thick smoke couldbe seen billowing from the house which ismostly hidden from the street by mature, evergreen trees.

Some neighbourssaidthe homehas been vacant for several years and a for-salesign can be seen out front.
