Alberta byelection set for Oct. 24 to replace late MP Jim Hillyer

Voters in the southern Alberta riding ofMedicine Hat-Cardston-Warner will be heading back to the polls next month.

A byelection has been called for Oct. 24 following the death of former Member of Parliament Jim Hillyer earlier this year.

The 41-year-old Conservative MP died of a heart attack in March.

So far, three candidates have announced they are running.

This will be the first of three byelections in Alberta in the coming months.Stephen Harperresigned his Calgary seat last month and Jason Kenneyis expected to do the same this week.
