Residents of a three-storey building in southeast Calgary were forced out of their homes by an early morning fire on Thursday.

Crews were called at about 5:15 a.m. to 366 94th Ave. S.E. for reports of two wooden balconies on fire, officials said in a release.

Firefighters put out the balcony fire and then used an aerial attack to extinguish the flames that had spread to the roof of the Acadia Manor building.

The building has extensive water and fire damage and it will besome time before investigators determine if it is safe for residents to return to their homes.

There were no injuries.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will get underway soon, the fire department said.
