The family of Jordan and Evan Caldwell, twin 17-year-old brothers who died in an accident early Saturday on the bobsled track at Canada Olympic Park, isopening up about the loss of "two of Calgary's finest."

Jason and Shauna Caldwell and theirdaughter Katie said in a statement Sunday that faith was a critical part of the boys' lives.

"Both Jordan and Evan had a deep walk with God. Prayer, Bible reading, and living their faith out in practical ways was what made these boys so special," the family said.

The teens both attended Westmount Charter School but Evan transferred to Ernest Manning last February to focus on engineering classes.

The family saidboth young men excelled in school with straight As.

Evan received 96 per cent on his senior math exam, while Jordan achieved a perfect score of 100 per cent, the statement said, adding that the brothers wereavid readers but enjoyed the outdoors too.

"Jordan would walk the dog while on a unicycle," the family said.

Both teens were heavily involved in volunteering and helping others, with Evan "on the frontlines of meeting the new Syrian refugees" and Jordan tutoring children in Spanish.

"In the 2013 flood they drove downtown and walked into the mission area and just began to help the first homeowners they found," the family said, adding both sons worked with the Samaritan's Purse shoe box campaign.

Jordan and Evan both developed work ethics early, including operating a snow removal and lawn care business and working at the Calgary Stampede and at Canada Olympic Park as hill ambassadors.

"Family games night, ping pong, family meals and Bible devotion times were frequent in our home," the family said.

"We will miss these boys greatly and they will be missed."
