Calgary cancer faker gets 6 months, has to pay $7,500

Calgary's Kristopher Cook, 29, has been sentenced to six months in jail and has to pay $7,500 to the Canadian Cancer Society afterpretendingto havecancerin order to get money from friends.

A fundraiser with local musicians was held for Cook in July 2011, raising almost $7,500.

Cook then disappeared with the money and was arrested in Victorialast September.

Hewill only remain in jail for another 68 days because he has been held in custody since his arrest.

Cook will then have two years from his release date to pay $7,500 to the Canadian Cancer Society.
