Calgary police are asking for help to identify awoman whose body was found in a Crescent Heights parkin the city's northwest earlier this week.

The woman'sdeath is deemed suspicious because her body was hidden in a treed area.

"It appears to investigators that there was some effort put into concealing the body," said Insp. Don Colemanwith the CPS major crimes section.

"It was not intact, but we don't believe it's from animal activity in the area or things like that. We believe that what was done was purposely done," he added.

The woman is between the ages of 20 and 40, with dark hair, but Coleman said it wasdifficult to tell her ethnicity based on the level of decomposition.

Coleman said the body had likely been there for a "few days."

It appears that part of her left cheek had been removed prior to her death, he said.

"Not so much a scar it looks like on the left cheek something has been cut or removed or some type of a distinguishable mark that had a bandage over it, which we would surmise was pre-event," Coleman said on Friday.

A passerbycalledpolice on Wednesday morning after they noticed an odour andspotted"an object in the trees" at Centre Street N. andSamisRoad N.E., Coleman said.

An autopsy was completed on Thursday, and police are still awaiting the results of a dental records search.
