Crews battle 2-alarm Monterey Park house fire

Calgary fire crews responded to a large house fire in the northeast Thursday afternoon after a neighbour spotted smoke.

Everyone safely out of home, kitten reported missing

Calgary fire crews responded toa large housefire in the northeast Thursday afternoon.

A neighbour spotted smoke pouring from a home in the 100 block of Costa Mesa CloseN.E. just before3 p.m.

"When fire crews arrived there was thick smoke coming from the window," said spokespersonCarol Henke.

"The fire was upgraded to a second alarm for additional resources. What we know is that everyone made it out safely, unfortunately one cat is missing."

Investigators haven't determine the cause of the fire and were still on scene Thursday evening.

Occupants of the house, two adults and six children, are now without a place to live.

A cat earlier thought to be lost has been found but a kitten remains missing.
