Reports of people seen running from scene of early morning fire at Calgary fourplex

Arson crews are looking into the cause of a fire at a fourplex in Calgary's northeast early Friday morning, while police are still trying to locate the two people who were seen fleeing.

Police and fire crews are investigating a fire that broke out in a northeast Calgary fourplex after witnesses reported seeing two people fleeing the blaze.

Carol Henke with the Calgary Fire Department says calls came in just before 2 a.m. on Fridayfor a fire onCentre Street near 34thAvenue N.E.

"One suite had sort of moderate fire damage," she said.

The firewas in the back basement room of unit 3, authorities said.

"No injuries as a result of the fire, and the residentsof the three other units were allowed back in after our fire crews assessed the air quality to ensure there was no carbon monoxide in the air," said Henke.

Arson crews are looking into the cause of the fire.

Police say they are still trying to locate the two people who were seen fleeing.
