Calgary average home prices slide 6% in September

The Calgary Real Estate Board (CREB) has released its market statistics for September in a report that notes residential sales were "well below typical activity levels for this time of year."

Calgary real estate sales are down again, according to the latest data.

The Calgary Real Estate Board (CREB) released its market statistics for September on Thursday,in a report thatnotesresidential sales were "well below typical activity levels for this time of year."

A total of1,448 units were sold during the month,down more than 32 per cent from September 2014.

Average sale prices in September were also down by six per cent compared to a year earlier, coming it at $457,658.

Median prices were flat, year-over-year,at $425,000.

Year to date, total residential sales are down 25.8 per cent andaverage prices are down 2.1 per cent compared to the first nine months of 2014.

The real-estate market saw a similar slide in August, according to areport from the Conference Board of Canada.

Rebound in 2016?

The Conference Board expects prices to rebound slightlyin 2016, however.

The latest economic outlook from ATB Financial also forecastsmodest growth in Alberta's real GDP next year, after a small contraction in 2015.
