Pedestrian hit and killed on Macleod Trail was crossing against signal, police say

The pedestrian appeared to have been crossing against the signal at the intersection with Southland Drive around 10 p.m., according to investigators.

Collision occurred around 10 p.m. Tuesday and driver remained at the scene

Calgary police say a man was hit and killed while trying to cross Macleod Trail on Tuesday night.

The pedestrian appearedto have been crossing against the signal at the intersection with Southland Drive around 10 p.m., according to investigators.

A southbound driver in a 2018 Cadillac XTS had a green light when he hit the pedestrian, police said in a release Wednesday.

Police said the driver wasn't speeding and hadn't been drinking. The pedestrian is believed to have been drinking.

The pedestrian was treated by paramedics but died on site, before he could be taken to hospital.

The driver was not injured.
