One of Calgary's two medical examiners has handed in his or her notice of resignation.

One of Calgary's two medical examiners has handed in his or her notice of resignation.

David Dear, spokesman for Alberta Justice, said he couldn't release the name or reason the person resigned.

He said the resignation would take effect at some point later this year.

The workload will be redistributed to the other forensic pathologists, and recruitment for a new ME will begin right away.

Alberta Justice announced in January that it was setting about on a review of the files handled by former medical examiner Dr. Michael Belenky.

Errors were found in one of his autopsy reports after he stepped down from his post.

Aspecial prosecutorwill go over all expert findings in death investigations prepared by Belenky since he was hired in 2008.
