A retired Calgary neurologist is facing 15 new charges of sexual assault against patients after first being convicted of a string of assaults in 2020.

Keith Hoyte, 73, faces the additional sexual assault charges after 13 more complainants came forward to police. The alleged assaults took place between 1987 and 2013.

One complainant reported being 12 years old when the sexual assaults began.

Hoyte is 10 months into a three-year sentence for sexually assaulting 28 female patients over three decades. He was sentenced in September 2020.

"This old man used me for his sexual gratification and then billed the province for it," wrote one victim in her impact statement during that trial.

A publication ban protects the identities of the victims.

During the 2020 trial, the judge heard that Hoyte's patients were instructed by the doctor to undress from the waist up. Hoyte would then untie and lower the gowns before fondling his victims' breasts.

"A hospital should be a safe place," wrote another victim during the trial.

Hoyte will appear in court for the new charges on Aug. 19.
