Suspect arrested in fatal New Year's Day shooting in northwest Calgary

Calgary police have arrested a man wanted in a fatal shooting in the northwest community of Ranchlands on New Years Day.

Calgary police have arrested a man wanted in a fatal shooting in the northwest community of Ranchlands on New Year's Day.

Samiul Turzo, 20, of Calgary, was taken into custody on April 3, police said in a release Wednesday.

He has been charged with first-degree murder in the early morning shooting death of Stallone Leonard Mark Clare, 31.

Turzo is also charged with the attempted murder of a second man, who was injured in the same shooting that happened in the 6900 block of Ranchero Road N.W.

The second victim has since recovered from his injuries.

Turzo is scheduled to appear in court on April 11.
