New Year's Day homicide victim identified as investigation continues

An autopsy completed on Tuesday confirmed the identity of the victim who died as Stallone Leonard Mark Clare, 31.

Calgary Police have identified the man fatally shot in the city's first homicide of the year.

At around 3:40 a.m. Sunday,police responded to reports of shots fired in Ranchlands, in the city's northwest. When officers arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

One of the men died at the scene, in the6900 block of Ranchero Road N.W., while the other was taken to hospital.

An autopsy completed on Tuesday confirmed the identity of the victim who died as Stallone Leonard Mark Clare, 31.

The second victim has recovered from his injuries and was released from hospital, police said.

Police saythe shooting is not believed to be random and they are continuing to investigate.
